Patrol Shotgun Course

The goal of this course is that upon completion the student will display a viable working knowledge of the operation of the patrol shotgun and its employment as a tactical law enforcement tool. This knowledge will be proven via written test, shooting test and practical application demonstration.

The student will become familiar with the theories, skills and employment methods related to the Patrol Carbine. These theories and skills will be explained, demonstrated and practiced in both classroom and range settings. These theories and skills will include:

  • Combative Mindset
  • Employment of a shotgun/ within a team
  • Nomenclature
  • Operation of the Weapon System
  • Maintenance of the Weapon
  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship
  • Ready Positions/ Mounting the weapon

  • Immediate Actions
  • Transition to Secondary Weapons
  • Transition to Shooting Positions
  • Facing the Threat
  • Adverse Angles
  • Deployment in Riot Gear
  • Deployment from a Vehicle
  • Shooting while Moving
  • Engaging Moving Targets
  • Management of Cover/ Concealment/ Barricades

Lee retired from the U.S Army in 2008 as a First Sergeant where he saw combat action during both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He led a physical security detachment in Central America; subsequently, ran a law and order detachment in Europe. Post 9/11 he was detailed with installation physical security which included both military and DA police training and operations, local and state law enforcement liaison.
