Practical Pistol Course

The goal is upon completion of this course of instruction the student will display a viable working knowledge of the operation of their handgun and its employment as a defensive weapon. This knowledge will be proven via written test, shooting test and practical application demonstration.

The student will become familiar with the theories, skills and employment methods related to the Basic Defensive Handgun. These theories and skills will be explained, demonstrated and practiced in both classroom and range settings. These theories and skills will include:

  • Safety Concerns
  • Combative Mindset
  • Employment of a handgun
  • Post Shooting Procedures
  • Nomenclature
  • Operation of the Weapon System
  • Maintenance of the Weapon
  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship
  • The Draw
  • Ready Positions
  • Reoading Procedures
  • Immediate Actions
  • Management of Cover/ Concealment/ Barricades

Lee retired from the U.S Army in 2008 as a First Sergeant where he saw combat action during both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He led a physical security detachment in Central America; subsequently, ran a law and order detachment in Europe. Post 9/11 he was detailed with installation physical security which included both military and DA police training and operations, local and state law enforcement liaison.
