17th Annual VBPD Shooting Team Match

The VBPD/FoP#8 Shooting Team will host its 17^th Annual Law Enforcement Shooting Competition on April 28^th 20120 at the VBPD Firearms Training Facility located aboard Academi in Moyock, NC. All full-time sworn local, state, federal and military law enforcement personnel are eligible and welcome to attend. Participants will compete in 6 scenario based courses of fire designed to test not only shooting skill and weapons handling but also critical thinking. Participants will utilize their standard issue weapons and duty equipment for the competition. Scores will be based on accuracy and time. This is NOT a sanctioned IPSC, IDPA or USPSA match. Each participant will be scored and ranked as an individual. Additionally, two and four person teams will also be scored and ranked. Top ranking competitors will be awarded prizes. Industry representatives will be on hand with new products and be available for consultation. Lunch, a T-shirt and a competition program are included in the $40 fee. Lunch and T-shirts will be available for spectators but need to be preordered. A raffle table will be available for everyone in attendance. A portion of this year’s proceeds will be donated to Operation Smile.

Prizes and Eligibility

There will be a side-match this year, all competitors, judges, vendors, and guests 21 years of age or older are eligible. Prize awarded to top shooter in the side-match.

There will be plaques and prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place individual, 2-man team and 4-man team. We will also have a nice array of raffle prizes, thanks to our many vendors and sponsors.

Competition for prizes and trophies is limited to FULL-TIME Sworn Officers. Auxiliary and Part-Time Officers are eligible to compete as individuals only.

Join the VBPD Shooting Team for their 15th annual shooting competition on April 24th, 2010. Aggressive Defensive Solutions is joined once again by Glock and Blackhawk as corporate sponsors of this law enforcement only competition.

This year’s competition is restricted to full time law enforcement officers. The courses of fire will consist of several challenging lanes designed to test your ability to react quickly and accurately under stress. All competitors will be required to use their duty weapon and duty rig.

Dozens of prizes to the top individuals and teams and to sweeten the deal top individual shooter wins a handgun from Glock.

VBPD/FOP#8 Shooting Team Carbine School

In mid-June 2008 the Virginia Beach Police Department Faternal Order of Police Lodge #8 (VBPD/FOP8) Shooting Team hosted the Aggressive Defensive Solutions team at their range facilities to conduct an Advanced Carbine Operators Course for members of their team and the department. The four day course included several customized classroom segments as well as multiple hours on the range. Stress shooting, accuracy at distance, day and night qualification courses, written tests and several live fire iterations in the kill house made up the body of the week. Everyone did well and spirits were high at the end of each long and tiring day. Brian James of the VBPD SWAT Team was the overall high shooter and was awarded the ”Black Shirt” for the class. I was impressed with the hard work and attention to detail that was displayed by the students. The class was a real pleasure to teach. I was provided excellent assistance by my Adjunct Instructors Ron Ehlers and Shawn Johnson. Thanks boys!!

13th Annual Police Combat Shooting Match by VBPD/FOP8

April 26, 2008 was a beautiful day at the Blackwater Training Center in Moyock, N.C. The Virginia Beach Police Department/ Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #8 Shooting Team held their 13th Annual Police Combat Shooting Match. The match consisted of five stages which tested the skills, agility and decision making abilities of the competitors. Each shooter was ranked individually as well as a member of either a two or four man team. The event was open only to full-time sworn law enforcement officers and required that the competitor shoot stock weapons from industry standard duty gear. As in years passed, Aggressive Defensive Solutions was a corporate sponsor to the event which brought in about seventy shooters from all over the east coast. Additionally, AggDefSol instructors served as Course Judges as well as Safety Officers and three of our instructors competed as members of the VBPD/FOP Shooting Team. Shawn Johnson and Nicole Kosmas performed well as part of a four man team. Ric. Sutton shot as part of a two man team which took First Place for Two Man and Ric. was the Overall High Shooter for the match. Ric. won a new Glock pistol for his efforts from Glock USA which was one of the other corporate sponsors. AggDefSol would like to express its thanks to the entire Law Enforcement shooting community, especially to VBPD/FOP8 Shooting Team for hosting the event. AggDefSol stand ready to lend a hand with training or sponsorship to our brothers and sisters of the Thin Blue Line.
