Basic Defensive Handgun© for the Legal Professional

During the course students will practice each of the physical actions necessary for accurate marksmanship and upon completion of the course will have demonstrated safe and competent weapon craft.

Primary material and theories covered during the class includes:

  • Safety Concerns,
  • Combative Mindset
  • Employment of a handgun ±Post Shooting Procedures
  • Nomenclature
  • Operation of the Weapon System
  • Maintenance of the Weapon
  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship
  • The draw
  • Ready Positions
  • Reloading Procedures
  • Immediate Actions
  • Management of Cover/ Concealment/ Barricades

The students will have fired over 300 rounds of live ammunition through various drills as well as a scored Qualification Course as a requirement to pass this course.

Lee retired from the U.S Army in 2008 as a First Sergeant where he saw combat action during both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He led a physical security detachment in Central America; subsequently, ran a law and order detachment in Europe.
